Topic: Good Game: A Christian Lens on Playing Sports
Description: Involvement in sports - both playing and watching - is a big deal within our Christian
community. So it’s worth asking: are we playing the game in line with our Christian values, or have we
taken a detour? Join us as we explore the connection between Christianity and sports. Let's dig into how
we participate and compete, and through biblical reflections and real-world examples, consider the
experience of sport from a Christian worldview.
About the Speaker: Dr Carl Nienhuis works as an Assistant Professor in the School of Kinesiology at UFV
and is a professional member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and Canadian Sport
Psychology Association. Within his various roles he has supported coaches, staff and athletes at regional,
provincial, national and international levels as a coach and consultant.
For this event, we are partnering with Reformed Bible College. With this partnership, we are inviting not
only people in their twenties (or thereabouts), but this talk is for everyone—players, spectators, young
and old, coaches, parents, and leaders alike! Come join us for an evening of fellowship and discussion!
