Description:

We Need YOU! Your first semester is finished. Congratulations! Especially for recent graduates from high school, the first few weeks of respite from the pressure of university/college, must be most welcome. The pressure, particularly in secular universities (as no doubt you’ve experienced) is not just academic.

After thirteen years of Christian schooling, grade twelve graduation came, and you had to leave that valuable protective Christian “bubble” behind to enter college or university.

What a different world you entered, especially if you’re in a secular institution! Do class peers share your Christian faith? Do their lifestyle choices often conflict with your Christian views? They probably do. As a result, do you often feel like you are the “odd person out”? Equally problematic, however, are the challenges during lectures, in seminars and tutorials: humanism, materialist evolution, clear anti-Christian teaching, and disdain for a Christian (world)view. What can be done to help you deal with the many challenges? The undersigned are convinced that students working together with support from the older members of our church community can be a positive and powerful force to enable you to maintain your Christian views and lifestyle. To facilitate the development of such a university and college student support group we would like to convene a meeting of all university and college students. Pastor William den Hollander will make a brief address concerning the importance of a Reformed Christian worldview. Discussions will follow concerning the need for a student fellowship and various support strategies.

Place: Canadian Reformed Church, Aldergrove

Date: Feb. 09 (Friday before the UFV reading week)

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Mr. Pieter Torenvliet, Mr. John Roukema, Pastor William den Hollander
